The Hispanic Federation (HF), the nation’s premier Latino nonprofit membership organization, celebrated its annual star-studded Spring Gala, “Out of Many, One” at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. This year, HF recognized Latino music icon Marc Anthony with its prestigious Premio Orgullo Award. Famed philanthropist George Soros received the Federation’s Humanitarian Award for his continued dedication and generosity to Latino communities and organizations. HF is also proud to have honored its Corporate Leadership Award, Popular, Inc., a key ally in the relief effort of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

Fundraising proceeds from the night helped support the Federation and its network of Latino grassroots nonprofits respond to the needs and aspirations of our nation’s growing Latino community. Proceeds will also support HF’s UNIDOS Puerto Rico Disaster Relief and Recovery initiative, the largest institutional contributor to Puerto Rico’s recovery and rebuilding efforts, seeding $30 million dollars towards 110 community groups and initiatives on the island.

Hispanic Federation President José Calderón and Gala Chair Lin-Manuel Miranda walked the red carpet and Lin-Manuel shared more about his involvement with HF, Hamilton’s acceptance in Puerto Rico, and upcoming projects. Take a look at the interview:
